Hello friends from Port Vila, Vanuatu. After over 50 hours of travel time from Florida to Vanuatu, Jeff and I are now in Port Vila. We arrive on Tuesday morning local time.

Since we arrived we have visited three nakamals. On the first night we went to Ronnie's nakamal and Bambu nakamal. Both were very nice but different from our American nakamal. At Bambu we met Kaitip a ni-Van from Malekula. He was very hospitable and we greatly enjoyed his company.

Last night we went to a chief's nakamal on invitiation with our host Edouard. The chief is from Pentecost and is the high chief for all of southern Pentecost. We drank many shells of kava with him. He even served us kava several times. It was a great honor to meet him.

At the end of the night, Jeff and I were presented with a gift -a nambus for each of us. The nambus is the penis wrap that is traditional to the people on southern Pentecost.

We are making our plans now to head to Pentecost with Edouard. I am very excited.
