Kava makes #7 in Time Magazines, "Ridiculously strong drinks."

Whoever says kava "does not do anything," well, they should know kava made the number 7 spot on Time Magazine's Top 10 ridiculously strong drinks!

Kava is ridiculously strong. Kava also has a reverse tolerance, so for those that tried it once, and they said they didn't feel it; trust me. A few shells deep and kava can relieve stress, help with muscle relaxation and even help you sleep at night. The more you drink it, the more you feel it!

Nakava in the Palm Beach Post!

Kava Bars are opening up everywhere it seems nowadays! While Nakava was the first real kava bar in North America, many other kava bars are popping up all over South Florida. For one particular gentleman, he found himself having too much kava!

Here is a link to an article about how a night out at a kava bar drinking too much kava can lead to...well...driving impairment. (As we warn you!) This happened just last week! And Nakava's picture made another appearance.

Nakava Kava Bar Survives Category 2 Hurricane Wilma!

Yes folks it has happened again...Hurricane Wilma decided to set its sights on south Florida and did not waiver.Southern Palm Beach and Northern Broward counties were hot with the "dirty" side of the southern eyewall and experienced winds of 100 mph plus at times. The destructive winds were evident by all south Floridians and anyone else that beame trapped here thinking this was going to be a piece of cake like last year.Boy were we all wrong.Fortunately the kava bar sustained little damage.Just a little bit of water under the doors that made the carpet smell like an old Michigan basement for a few days. The tribe at the Nakamal made it through allright despite the surpluses and shortages that occured after the storm reminiscent of any island nation.Plenty of laundry soap but no water was the story at Publix immediately after the hurricane. Thanks to Brian we all had plenty of ice and fresh sandwiches. And lets not forget Marks courageous drive to Port St. Lucie with 55 gallons of gas in his Honda Element so that the fish and everyone else could have some gas until the power came back on which it finally did Saturday the 29th. 6 days with no power is the most we have seen yet.Somehow only half of the block has power but we are not going to complain. Still a lot of clean up to do in the area but the kava bar still stands in Boca Raton.

Just a couple weeks after a near miss by hurricane Frances kava local kava consumption was interrupted once again. The kava bar sustained little damage and was only out of power for 2 days before the kava was flowing freely once again. Thank you to David Trudeau and Hi-Tech Printing of Deerfield Beach, Florida for donating a generator to keep the fish alive and allowng us to open with no power.

Nakava Survives Hurricane Frances!

Hurricane Frances paid a visit to south Florida and the Nakava kava bar. It was the first hurricane that had ever struck the area since the kava bar opened in 2002. Despite having wet carpet near the doorways the nakamal was unscathed. Some say the artifacts protected the kava because we were the only stores in the plaza that did not a leaking roof. The worst part about this experience was having to stay closed for 5 days. Some of the hard core locals like Jim C. and Richard D. came out right after the storm hit looking for some kava. They are so hard core they drank 3 day old kava warm! Said it worked just fine. Caine finally chopped up the tree limb that was taking up 2 parking spaces after about 1 week of everyone looking at it wondering when it would be removed. Some people decided to sleep in the nakamal to protect it from looters. We stayed up all night drinking kava with a cold refrigerator full of drinks and a functioning ice machine?courtesy of Paul Millers donated generator.

Toys for Tots Foundations

December 19, 2003

Toys for Tots Benefit Kava Party - The Nakamal held its first annual holiday charity event to benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation.

We collected nearly $3,000 worth of toys and monetary donations that were distributed by the United States Marine Corps and volunteers to families with children in need.

Entrance required one toy, unwrapped and in original packaging, per person or a $5 minimum donation.

The Nakamal donated 25% of its sales to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

This event was a soaring success. The Nakamal team would like to extend a gracious thank you to all who have helped this year. We look forward to making 2004 bigger and better, so we can reach even more children and families.

Thank you for your support.
